Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Untitled-2

Just like sequels of many hit movies, this movie sequel could be a bit dull sometimes. The plot may come very much anticipated, with occasional twist of plots.

To say that this movie is fantastic is a bit of an overrated. The movie was overall nice but like all movies from Michael Bay, this one has more explosions and gun fights, with awesome use of military technologies and soldiers.

 Untitled-1
The really intriguing part would be how they manipulated history, to a stage that you may come to realize that all the space expeditions may be just frauds. They've been to places where no one would expect, like Chernobyl in Ukraine and the Angkor Wat. Still, at the end of the show, you'll see that the whole movie was just about the great epic war, trust and ignorance.

So, to watch it in 3D or not? Good question.
Many Hollywood movie producers hoped that this movie would help to give the 3D technology a push, as of current, 3D screenings are not doing as well as expected. Well guess what, not worth the money to watch Transformers in 3D. The effects are quite normal, and even worse, most of the actions were kind of slowed in order to accommodate to the 3D movie development. In short, it's like you're watching high speed actions in slow-mo.

So here's my rating:
Storyline/plot: 7.5
Visual FX: 9.5
3D FX: 6
Overall: 7.5

Owh ya, if you haven’t watched the first one, please do so before you watch the third.

127 Hours

127_hours_poster_01

Watching this 127 Hours was very much like watching a horror movie. Rather than scaring you because of ghosts and something gory, this movie scares you because of reality. Anything can happen to you just like that.

127hours3

Here are some take away lessons:

1. Never, never EVER go somewhere adventurous alone. Always have a companion, or at least inform them where you’re going.

2. Always bring sufficient water with you. Drink your own urine when you’ve finished your fresh water. Bring some biscuits along too.

3. Stay as calm as possible when you are in a crisis.

4. Don’t ever buy any cheap Made-in-China multi tools, when your life depends on it, get the best you can afford. Get a REAL SWISS-made knife…

5. Always pack for emergency when you go out for trips. Always assume that you may be in danger and in need of the emergency pack.

And what did Aron learn?

1. Your family comes first. Know how to prioritize.

2. Even he believes in Karmic Laws. He believed that it was he himself who brought this accident to himself.

3. He is now thankful and grateful that he survived.

Tron Legacy

It all began so many years ago… and now, the legacy of it.

I watched the original Tron just a few days back. During the production that time, the visual was bad, music was horrible… but then, it’s a dream of technology and beyond.

tron-legacy

Now, it’s back, with better music by Daft Punk, stunning visuals and colour, but not worth paying extra for the 3D effects.

tron_legacy_poster_10

Didn’t expect Disney to go so high tech…

Anyways, back to the movie. The plot was so so, acceptable. But don’t go watch the movie with high hopes. The fun parts in the whole movie were the front, somewhere in the middle during a lightcycle race, and the last part. Other than that, nothing much which is memorable.

So, here’s my rating:

Visual effects : 85%

Audio : 90%

Plot : 60%

3D effects : 35%

OVERALL : 70%

Then again, Tron Legacy is 20 times better than the original Tron.

Step Up 3D

The movie is a must watch. If you still haven’t watched it. Go get yourself a ticket in the cinema and watch it. Movie not to be missed.

I’d give a 9 out of 10 rating. Why?

1) The 3D effects are just mind blowing. The water splashes are so real… you could literally feel them splashing at you.

2) The boombox room is just amazing… and more cool dance moves too!

3) If you like sneakers, the hall of sneakers would amaze you as well!

4) It’s the WORLD JAM – Biggest Battle ever!

5) There are so many dance crews dancing together… they’re dope, man!

6) The LED light show at the final battle was like… mind blowing.LED

7) A workaholic director – Jon M Chu

So what are you waiting for! Grab the chance to watch it in 3D! I certainly don’t mind going for the second time.

A day in town

Dropped by town to watch Inception.

1920x1200_00_OneSheet

Quite a good movie. Twisted and unexpected plots, crazy effects and lots of never ending action ride throughout the movie. I’d give a 8.5 out of 10. Before the movie started, some guy sitting behind me was telling his friend that he was about to watch this same movie for the 6th time!

1920x1200_09_curlingCity

Well, this movie got me thinking… aren’t we just the same? Living in a dream? When you look back, things happened so quickly they never seemed real. You’re now in a dream and the next moment, you can be in another realm and unexpected scenarios. They seemed so real yet so phoney.

So what is real? what is reality? 真真假假,假假真真,是真是假?

After the show, I stopped by Lot 10 to visit the new National Geographic Store.

Official opening was last month.

They have a cafe inside too, so you can enjoy some great books and photographs while sipping your hot tea or coffee. Some merchandise were a bit expensive, but hey, part of it goes to exploration and research!

So if you’ve got some time to spare, you can roam around the shop and browse through what they have to offer. After all, it’s just 3 floors up!

A decision has been made.

To a destination so familiar yet so strange.

The journey starts soon.

And I’m still getting all the details together.

Let’s hope the decision is a wise one.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FACTS: They know you’re back. They know that you’re in town. They know you have time.

TRUTH: They’re just not interested in having you around. So just face it. People forget.

G.I. Joe – The Rise of Cobra

And finally… It’s my turn to watch this man-machine action-packed movie… alone.

Joe_KeyArt72

First of all, it’s very cool… second of all, it’s still very cool… and third of all, the CGI sux… (Edna, you’re right!)

Yea… the machines, the accelerator suits, the chase, the hunt, the people, they’re definitely very cool. But the story line lacks of oomph… It’s like, something is a bit missing… Nevertheless, the characters are well played, and you should be able to see some cool guys and beautiful girls in the movie… haha

gijoe-promo-2

Still, back to the movie. The CGI is a bit out… maybe because the movie Transformers basically set the CGI standard so high… haha… good for us. But I think it’s still much better as compared to few years back…

gijoe-promo-4

Yea… so, is this movie worth watching? Yes and no. If you’re the kind of person who loves military stuffs, cool techs, seeing things blowing up, handsome guys and beautiful girls, YES. If you’re the kind of person who wants to learn something out of it, philosophical stuffs, moral of the story etc, NO.

Some iPhone wallpapers for everyone… :)

baroness duke rip scarlett snake storm

My rating, for my personal preference, 4.5 out of 5.0

If you guys want to see machines, watch Transformers. If want to see humans with machines, watch G.I. Joe. It comes highly recommended. Cheers!

P/S: I saw someone without a mask today. Feeling worried, he used the newspaper to cover half of his face, with the newspaper depressed on the nose. I wonder he’d fall ill due to newspaper dye toxicity or H1N1 first…

Coolest Rides in Movies…

I saw this on MSN today… so, gotta share it with everyone…

Admit it, we just love cars! The sound of the engines, the screech of the tires and the pure adrenaline you get when you hit the pedal to the metal. And of course, superspies, superheroes and robots need a form of transportation too, you know, to help them in their bid to save the world. MSN Entertainment takes a look at some of the coolest rides we have seen in movies. They are no Ferraris, but they are cooler!

So… My favourite…

SAM WITWICKY'S CHEVROLET CAMARO 2010 SS (A.K.A. BUMBLEBEE)

Chevrolet Camaro (AP File Photo)

It was in: Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

Why it’s cooler than your ride: We had a tough time choosing between the Autobots, but we decided to go with Bumblebee because he turns into a really hot ride – the Chevrolet Camaro 2010 SS. In the first Transformers movie, Bumblebee took the form of an old and rusted 1974 Camaro, but later, thankfully, he took the form of a much sportier Camaro. When in Bumblebee form, he stands at 16 feet tall and is quite well-armed: with a powerful plasma cannon and a ring-shaped light missile launcher on either shoulder. Bumblebee is also a capable close-combat fighter, evident in Transformers 2. What we absolutely love though is how Bumblebee in Camaro form ensures his owner Sam (Shia LaBeouf) gets a little action from hot girl next door Mikaela (Megan Fox). Now, can your car do that?

Next… also another very very cool suit… rather…

GI JOE’S DELTA-6 ACCELERATOR SUIT

Delta-6 Accelerator Suit (Paramount Pictures/ Image Net)

Paramount Pictures/ Image Net

It was in: G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra

Why it’s cooler than your ride: It’s a suit that makes you run faster than your car. The Delta-6 Accelerator Suit is a mechanical exo-skeleton that allows the wearer to run at speeds of more than 100 km per hour. That’s faster than a Perodua Kancil. The bulletproof battle-armor suit is equipped with turbo-hydraulics and high-pressurized pneumatics, enabling the wearer to run faster, jump higher and hit harder than normal. The suit also comes with an ultra-lightweight helmet that is equipped with an advanced cybernetics heads up display (HUD). It shows the wearer laser-enhanced LED readouts from scanning and communications systems. If you think that’s cool, the suit also boasts an impressive weapons system of fully self-contained firepower. With the Accelerator Suit, running to work has never been this much fun. The armour and HUD might be overkill but who needs to workout when you've got an exoskeleton on steroids.

Another very awesome one…

The Tumbler (AP File Photo)

BATMAN’S THE TUMBLER

It was in: Batman Begins and The Dark Knight

Why it’s cooler than your ride: Unlike any other Batmobile, the Tumbler is a tank-like vehicle that has been described as a “cross between a Lamborghini and a Hummer.” The Tumbler looks meaner and it is said to resemble a crouching bat.  This meanie has a Vauxhall/GM capable of 500 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds. The Tumbler has a pair of auto-cannons mounted in the nose of the car between the front wheels. In "Attack" mode, the driver's seat moves to the center of the car, and Batman is repositioned to lay face-down with his head in the center section between the front wheels for better stability. In this “Stealth” mode, the Tumbler automatically switches off its lights and reduces the engine sound enormously, resulting in making the car very hard to find in dark places. In The Dark Knight, Batman ejects from the Tumbler in the Batpod, a super cool motorcycle formed by the front wheels and struts of the Tumbler. Two for the price of one – we like!

So… for the other 7 cars that made to the top 10 list… click here to view them… :) Very very cool indeed!
