The DARK-NIGHT

Yep... Nothing wrong with the title... I went to IMAX and apparently they printed DARKNIGHT on the tix.

Well, I'm not a big Batman fan, but overall, I don't think this is one very good movie.... The movie is a bit boring actually. People in the cinema didn't scream with joy or squeal or squeak or made any noise at all. Not sure why other seemed to like this movie though.....

Anyway, not to say that this movie sux... Joker has certainly done a great job, entertaining people.... Kudos to the late Heath Ledger, who has done a fantastic job acting Joker. I think this is the best acting he has left us before leaving earth. Again, well done Ledger.

I still think Val Kilmer is much more suitable than Christian Bale. Don't know... maybe he looks better on screen. Haha. Anyway, I'll leave this for you guys to comment.

By the way, I went to apple store today, in desperate attempt to upgrade my iPod Touch to 2.0 software update. Machines Store at Lot 10 is hopeless - not a single technical personnel in store. Mac Studio at Low Yat - not friendly at all, kinda make the upgrading process boring. Epicentre at Pavillion - fantastic... They tried to help me upgrade it and although it failed, they helped me send the iPod Touch back to Apple for warranty claim. They even promised that they'll get back the iPod Touch within 5 working days... which is GREAT!!

Let's hope that I can get through this week without music... haha.

PIKOM PC FAIR is coming to town... so do check out ya... and *ahem*, smart people please buy your stuffs at Low Yat Plaza.... Go to PC fair to check out new stuffs only.... The price is normally more expensive than low yat during that 3-day sales.

Diagnostic Medicine

Wow... It's a lot of homework and things to do... So finally found some time to blog a bit. Tests these few days... so kinda busy studying for it. Anyhow, enjoyment is enjoyment right? I've been watching lots of "House M.D." these days. Kinda crazy over it.... Although the story line is not as interesting as "Grey's Anatomy", House MD has what I'm interested in - DIAGNOSTIC. Diagnosing a patient is interesting, especially when you need to know all the signs and symptoms. Now that I'm studying Clinical Biochemistry, I'm slightly exposed to diagnostic procedures, which is very cool..... But not until when you kill a patient... which I DID "killed" one of my patients during my clinical biochemistry test 1.

This patient of mine is only 2 years old, and he's suffering from hepatomeagaly and could not thrive. Also, after a liver biopsy, it was found that this patient has glycogen with short outer branches. I need to help diagnose this child and unfortunately, I killed this patient. He has got Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD) - Type III - Cori's Disease. I got that wrong and diagnosed him to have GSD Type IV - Anderson's Disease. Therefore, giving the wrong treatment would kill him.

I guess I'll have to do more practise to remember all, or else I could kill another patient during my finals.... :P

Crazy over Apple Products!!!

Good news everyone! iPhone is now on a world tour and it's now in Singapore... That mean's it's cheaper to buy the hacked version in Singapore than to 'import' it directly from US. Hehe. But then, another good news from apple is that they are bringing new iPhone technology into iPod Touch - the new 2.0 Software Update.

With this new 2.0 Software Update, you will have more features, such as the Apps Store (free and paid softwares for your iPod Touch), the all new scientific calculator, Push Email Features, search bar on Address book, etc.....

Want to get your hands on this? Well, good and bad news..... Good news is, there will be iTunes Music Store in Malaysia (only limited to buying and updating 2.0 software and getting Apps)!!! Bad news is........ apparently 2.0 Software Update has some problem.... My iPod Touch couldn't upgrade to this 2.0 software pack... and now it's "bricked" and I'm stuck in old version of iPod Touch.... T_T *sob*

Anyhow, do anticipate the new features once Apple has sorted out all these problems. So remember to update your iPod Touch ya!!

Owh ya... Nike also launched a new website - Nike Lab. Look at the new product line... Especially Nike Hyperdunk!

I received a forwarded message today. I think it is good to share this with everyone. So please take some time to view the comics.

God bless the China Earthquake victims...

CHINA EARTHQUAKE STRIPS
Hello. This is Coco Wang. As you know the breaking news of 5.12 Earthquake in China, almost all the TV channels in China are broadcasting 24 hours non-stop of every development and stories of all the rescue operations in all damaged locations.

I don't know how much information the BBC or any UK media received from us, I imagine the UK audiences were presented with the major developments of the incident, but you are probably unaware of many important and inside details which are only known to people inside China.

The amount of incredibly moving stories of victims, rescuers, and volunteers is simply shocking at the moment. I have been collecting newspapers of all the stories, and telling them in the form of comic strips. I hope these stories could show the UK readers the love, warmth and courage of the Chinese people, also the sad and cruel reality of the horrible 5.12 Earthquake.

I am back home in Beijing now. Thousands of heart-breaking stories are happening 24 hours non-stop everyday, some are so sad that you can hardly bear, some are incredibly moving that you just can't stop crying... I wanted to go to the front to help with all those people, some of my friends have already gone there, but I heard that the traffic needed to be kept totally clear for rescue transportation at the moment, people like me without knowledge of first-aid and experience of rescue operations going there now would cause choas and trouble... but I can't just sit at home and do nothing, I have been crying my eyes out in the past three days, I have never felt more proud of my country and people... their love, courage and kindness rock me to my core! I have decided to tell these touching stories by drawing comics. I am going to send you comic strips almost everyday from now on, I hope you could know something about the earthquake in China, although you don't have to do anything, but I hope you could feel our love and hope.

Thank you all so much.

Coco Wang

Adopt a Microbe as your PET!!

I know Microbiology tests are coming up soon. So those taking this subject had better read and study fast... There's so many things to know and remember in such a short time. I guess this is a great time for me to introduce something to everyone of you....

ADOPT A MICROBE

This person, Emma Lurie, has done a great job making studying microbiology as interesting as possible. With those cute drawings, you'll certainly find that the artworks are extremely entertaining! So, take a break from your Microbio studies, and read this person's blog about microbes!

Here's my adopted pet:

Hey, my name is E. coli.
I'm a Gram negative bacteria and I'm part of the enterbacteriaceae family.
In my family I am part of tribe I, Escherichieae.
My whole family is oxidase negative.
I live in the bowels.

My uropathic strains are the most common cause of urinary tract infection. For teh win!
Some of my strains have virulence factors, so I can cause diarrhoea.
The diarrhoea can watery or bloody, depending on which strain you have.

And here's an actual photo of E.Coli:

So, thanks a lot to Emma Lurie. Click HERE to go to Emma Lurie's blog.

Things are not what it seemed to be....

It's been awhile since I work with other people, not like the assignment kind of work, but in terms of collaborations etc. I'm trying my very best to be fair to everyone and sometimes, I'm proud to say that I can listen to other people's opinion... That is the reason why I work better when I make the decisions based on my understanding and team member's capability.

The worst person I can work with is the type of person who helps you a bit, and then decline to help you further. If that is your opinion and I feel that it is a good one, I would recommend that we work together to get a project done smoothly. This person, on the other hand, takes the project for a while and just abandon it because he says that "It's your call, you choose. It's none of my business anyway".

So, the next time I work in a team, I'm going to make sure that this person, will not get my attention at all, because he's not a contributor but a person who comments and not wanting to do any work at all.

Enough of that, I just wanted to say that I'm kinda busy these few days. Too busy, in fact, I find myself having "Hypothyroidism" symptoms all the time... Always tired and not willing to get out of bed every morning... I need a blood analysis fast! And don't put my blood into the wrong tube - Red, Gold or Gray cap only! Haha.... too much of Clinical Biochem I guess.

Anyway, finally got a hair cut... kinda nice looking actually. Perhaps I should stop paying attention to my new hairstyle and work harder... Hmmm... Take care everyone and DON'T FALL SICK!
