Dell made my day today!!!

Two days ago, I called Dell, “I’ve got some problems with my USB ports.”

Although they offered to get it fixed yesterday, I postponed the repair till today.

So today, the technician got to my house and had my laptop repaired. He changed my whole mainboard… and with it, a better graphics card built in…

And WOW, my graphics is now better than ever. My iTunes cover flow loads faster, Photoshop is now better with less graphics lag…

I’m so happy!!! Thanks Dell… You made my Dell perfect… :)

Buffet Lunch at Tenji, Mont Kiara

It was a plan… about to fail when we ended up with no transport to Tenji… then after a bit of reference to Google Map and estimation of taxi charges, we made the decision to go there…

Here we go, TENJI…

DSC_1859

Roland got us reservations for Tenji some time ago… initially for 8 person, but ended up 4 only because two of them are sick… and the other 2, are their friends… so… we went there on our own…

DSC_1858

At 11.40am sharp, we feasted on the food…

The ‘free flow’ of raw oysters…

The sushi…

The good thing about this restaurant is that you can order freshly cooked and served food… they will deliver it to you…

DSC_1879

My ice-kacang with two scoops of Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice-cream on top… The ice-cream was smooth and fabulous!

Greg… their half-boiled eggs are fantastic… so is the toufu at the back…

DSC_1887

Wedges… no cheese only… T_T

DSC_1908

More ice-creams…

DSC_1917

They have a wide range of desserts and you’re going to be spoilt of choices… I didn’t photograph any cakes…

The must have group photo…

DSC_1923

Nate getting HIGH over his wet towel… haha

DSC_1934

I must say, they serve quite a lot of food and for a vegetarian like me, I was spoilt of choices too… They had grilled mushrooms, vegetable sushi, egg-rolled sushi, soba, asparagus soup, bread, potato, fruits and many other choices to choose from…

Some may find that eating only those are ‘not worth it’… but for me, it doesn’t matter, as I’m around with friends who really care for each other…

Anyway, the food was great, so was the drinks. I would grade it a 3.8 / 5.0 mark…

So if you’re interested, you can take a cab all the way to SohoKL to dine at Tenji, the cab would cost about RM 8 for 4 from Genting Klang. But make sure you know the way there because some taxi drivers don’t know the way there! haha…

Happy Birthday Ren Quan!!!

So… I guess you had one of the best weddings Birthday ever…!!!

Let’s not waste anymore time and head over to the picture gallery…

We had a fantastic Oreo Cheese Cake for RQ…

Ascaris Lumbricoides

People…

PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED ANY FURTHER IF YOU FIND THAT THE FOLLOWING PHOTOS ARE GROSSING YOU OUT!

THIS IS TO AVOID YOU VOMITING IN FRONT OF YOUR PC, JUST LIKE HOW OUR LECTURER MADE US FELT SO UNEASE WHEN WE SAW THE PHOTOS…

This was what happened today… Dr. Haresh was very nice to share all his photo collections on roundworms… He said that these looked like ‘Mee Goreng’ (Fried Noodles)…

These are some of the photos… please proceed with caution!!! Don’t say that I didn’t warn you…

This is a roundworm… caused by faecal-oral passage via hands…

Ascaris 01

This is the ‘mee goreng’ he described to us…

Ascaris 02

The route of infection as follows:

Consumed eggs –> hatch in intestine –> larvae penetrate gut –> travel through liver to lungs –> up the bronchi and trachea –> and swallowed again and stay in the intestines…

Because in some cases, the worms are already so big, they cannot be swallowed easily… instead, the come out like this…

Ascaris 03

And here is a photo of them in your intestine… *You are encouraged to enlarge to look at the worms in details…*

Ascaris 04

Treatment? Use Mebendazole and Pyrantel… And almost immediately after use… You’ll see something like this…

Ascaris 05

GROSS RIGHT?!

Before Roland and I left the lecture hall, I actually joked to Dr. Haresh…

Me: Dr. Haresh, had your lunch already?

Dr.: No, not yet.

Me: Want to join us?

Dr:…

Me: We’re having noodles with extra taugheh (bean sprouts)…

Dr.: Yer… you so cruel la…

Hahaha…… by the way, our beloved Dr. Haresh is a vegetarian...

Yasmin Ahmad had another stroke!

Yes, she had another stroke 5 years later… it occurred the day I posted her video on my blog – The Funeral.

To tell you the truth, I had no idea why there was an urge to look for her video on YouTube that day. Hmm… could it be just another coincidence?

Anyway, this was on yesterday’s newspaper. If you’re interested in the news, read on…

Report from thestar.com

PETALING JAYA: Internationally-acclaimed movie director Yasmin Ahmad, also renowned for her advertisements capturing the multiracial essence of Malaysia, suffered a stroke while attending a meeting at Sri Pentas here Thursday.

Film director Yasmin Ahmad

The 51-year-old creative director at Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur was immediately rushed to the Damansara Specialist Centre where she underwent brain surgery.

At an emergency press conference at about 7pm at hospital, Yasmin’s brother-in-law Datuk Dr Zakaria Zahari, a paediatric surgeon, said that Yasmin was in stable but critical condition.

He appealed to those present to respect the family’s wishes and leave the hospital as there was nothing left to do but for doctors to monitor Yasmin’s condition and the rest to pray for her.

Yasmin had previously suffered a stroke about five years ago.

Her husband Tan Yew Leong, who was in the Intensive Care Unit ward with her, did not speak at the conference.

At press time, Yasmin’s parents were on the way from Langkawi to be at her side.

A host of media representatives and personalities congregated at the hospital on Thursday night, including pop diva Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and her husband Datuk Khalid Mohd Jiwa, Mercy Malaysia president Datuk Dr Jemilah Mahmood, songstress Jaclyn Victor, Suria FM’s Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin, Group CEO of Television Networks, Media Prima Berhad Datuk Seri Ahmad Farid Ridzuan, and indie filmmakers James Lee, Ho Yuhang, Pete Teo and Liew Seng Tat.

Yasmin had earlier met with TV3 officials and Siti at Media Prima’s Sri Pentas premises to pitch a potential commercial.

Siti had told The Star that during the meeting, Yasmin said she was feeling unwell and looked ready to collapse.

Siti, a former ambassador for the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, administered CPR.

“We tried to move her and didn’t get a response. Then we laid her on the floor. She was having difficulty breathing.

“A panel doctor from Sri Pentas came to assist and while she gave Yasmin mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, I helped with the chest compressions until the ambulance arrived,” Siti said.

Even before she started making feature films, Yasmin had long been known for her ground-breaking TV commercials for national oil and gas company Petronas with their themes of racial harmony and familial ties.

In 2003, she broke into movies with her first feature film, Rabun, a TV movie produced for TV3.

But it was 2004’s Sepet, her first cinematic release, that won her international accolades and awards such as the Grand Prix at the Creteil International Women’s Film Festival in France. Later that year, the film also picked up the Best Asian Film award at the Tokyo International Film festival.

Since then, she has made four other feature films, all of which had been screened at international festivals.

Her biggest moment came in 2007 when Mukhsin (2006), her ode to childhood love, garnered two awards – the Grand Prix from the Kinderfilmfest International Jury and a Generation K-Plus Crystal Bear Special Mention at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival, one of the top three film festivals in the world.

Her latest film, Talentime, has been selected for this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival, which will be held from Oct 17 to 25.

Yasmin had just embarked on two international projects, a Japanese film called Wasurenagusa (Forget Me Not) which will feature a Malaysian-Japanese cast, and Go Thaddeus!, a Singaporean production about the short but inspiring life of the late Singaporean triathlete Thaddeus Cheong.

Last November, she was inducted into the inaugural Malaysian Advertising Hall of Fame by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia.

Let us pray for her wellbeing. Don’t let such a great director/producer leave us just yet…
